BIOGRAPHY

フランス、パリ生まれ、フィリピン育ちのアーティスト。

幼い頃、教会の木彫を修理していたバレラは、あまった木材を集め、おもちゃを作り始める。そののち、段ボール箱や紙といった様々なスクラップを集めておもちゃやフィギュアを制作するようになり、この経験が後の彼の作風に大きな影響を与える。彼の作品には幼少期の記憶と良く耳にする言葉、ストリートで目にするイメージや色彩があふれ、チャーミングなアールブリュット的な感性を感じさせる。近年、欧米の美術館やギャラリーでの個展開催やグループ展に参加し、活動の場を広げている。
