On this occasion, we will present works by the avant-garde calligraphy pioneer, Nankoku Hidai’s works at the Insights sector.

As one of the most important, leading figures of the avant-garde calligraphy movement, Nankoku Hidai transformed the world of calligraphy through his revolutionary introduction of “the art of the line” and his subsequent liberation of the art form from the category of literature.

Transcending calligraphic circles, Hidai made his mark in cities such as New York and the Western art world.

Please take this chance to see the works by the very man who laid the foundations for Japanese avant-garde calligraphy.
